Dr. Sama Banaei was born and raised right here in Calgary and had envisioned a career in dentistry since childhood. After completing his French Immersion Diploma he gained his degree in Biological Sciences with Distinction at the University of Calgary. His aspirations turned to reality when he went to the University of Alberta and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

Dr Sama is the creator and co-founder of an initiative called Pathways to Dentistry. Through this, he was a mentor to prospective dental students across Alberta and broke ground on a scholarship program for low socioeconomic status students that desired to pursue dentistry. This initiative is the first of its kind in Canada. In addition, he has volunteered in Guatemala providing dental treatment to underserved populations internationally.

Dr. Sama takes a thoughtful patient centred care approach to dentistry and continually strives to provide his best to every patient he sees. He is constantly advancing and enjoys all the different areas of dentistry. He takes pride in getting to know his patients and in developing amazing relationships. Attentive and empathetic, Dr. Sama enjoys helping his patients in developing and executing a treatment plan tailored to their specific needs.

As a huge Flames fan, he enjoys talking about anything related to hockey. He’s also a competitive basketball player who enjoys discovering new music and exploring all the great restaurants Calgary has to offer.
